Suspect in Custody After Violent Attack
The suspect, known as Mino, 52, has been detained at the Inayawan Police Station. According to statements made to Superbalita Cebu, Mino confessed to the act, citing years of frustration and humiliation during their 10-year cohabitation, which produced a 10-year-old son. He explained that he had decided to leave their shared residence in Cogon Pardo last month, relocating to Poblacion Pardo with their child.
Jealousy and Provocation Lead to Tragedy
Mino revealed that he became aware of Beni's involvement with a younger man, described as an ex-convict in an illegal drugs case, which fueled his anger. On the night of the attack, he visited their former home to retrieve his belongings and ID, but found Beni absent, as she was attending a wake at a neighbor's house. Upon confronting her later to ask for keys, she refused and told him he had no right to the property.
He further alleged that Beni consistently mocked and embarrassed him in public, exacerbating tensions. In a particularly distressing claim, Mino stated that when he attempted intimacy, she demanded money, suggesting he hire another woman instead. Overwhelmed by rage while watching Beni play mahjong, he spotted a barbecue stick on the ground and impulsively stabbed her in the neck.
