Father Arrested for Molesting Daughter in Cebu, Manila Rape Case

In a disturbing case of domestic violence, police in the City of Naga, located in southern Cebu, arrested a 55-year-old man on Monday night, March 9, 2026. The suspect, identified by authorities under the alias Chris, is accused of molesting his 12-year-old daughter within their family home. He is currently detained at the local police station as investigations proceed.

Neighbor's Alert Leads to Swift Arrest

The incident came to light when a concerned neighbor contacted law enforcement at 7:20 p.m. to report the alleged abuse. Two police officers promptly responded to the call and apprehended the father at his residence. According to statements from the suspect's other children, he had returned home intoxicated and in an agitated state. In a fit of anger, he reportedly grabbed an electric fan and struck the victim on the buttocks before ordering the other siblings to retreat to their room.

Victim's Harrowing Account

The young victim recounted that her father then approached her and molested her while issuing threats to kill her if she made any noise. At the police station, she positively identified her father as the perpetrator. In response to the trauma, the Department of Social Welfare and Development has stepped in to evaluate the girl for psychological impact. Police are now preparing formal charges against the suspect to ensure justice is served.

Separate Rape Case in Manila

In a related but distinct criminal matter, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a 37-year-old motorcycle-for-hire driver in Tondo, Manila, on March 9. This suspect is alleged to have raped an 11-year-old girl from Barangay Kalunasan in Cebu City. Colonel John Guiagul, chief of CIDG-National Capital Region, detailed the arrest during a press conference on Tuesday, March 10.

Cross-Regional Manhunt

Guiagul explained that the suspect fled Cebu after the incident on March 7, seeking refuge with his father in southern Cebu. When Cebu City police approached the father, he provided the suspect with 6,000 pesos to facilitate his escape. Authorities, coordinating with the Philippine Coast Guard, reviewed passenger manifests and discovered the suspect had traveled from Bacolod City to Pier 4 in Manila. A joint operation between Cebu City police and the CIDG led to his arrest upon arrival at the port.

Details of the Assault

The suspect and the victim were neighbors, and he had previously given the girl money on multiple occasions. On March 7, after a final payment of 200 pesos, he took her to a grassy area in their barangay where the rape occurred. Following the assault, the suspect arranged for another motorcycle-for-hire driver to transport the victim home, allegedly to avoid police checkpoints. The young girl is currently hospitalized, receiving treatment for bleeding sustained during the attack.

These cases highlight ongoing challenges in combating child abuse in the Philippines, with law enforcement agencies working across regions to apprehend suspects and support victims. The arrests underscore the importance of community vigilance and inter-agency cooperation in addressing such heinous crimes.
