Father Demands Justice After Son's Fatal Road Collision in Cebu City
A grieving father is urgently calling for justice following the tragic death of his 22-year-old son in a road collision that occurred in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City earlier this week. Isidrolito Salvador has made a heartfelt appeal to authorities for immediate and decisive action in the case of his only child, Charle Magne Salobre, who lost his life after being struck by a sedan in the early hours of Monday, February 16, 2026.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to Salvador, his son had just completed his shift around 3 a.m. as a crew member at a fast-food chain located in Mambaling. Before heading home, Salobre took a moment to drop off his girlfriend, who also works at the same establishment. Moments later, near the Mambaling overpass, a Toyota sedan allegedly executed a sudden U-turn along a solid line on N. Bacalso Street, resulting in a devastating collision with Salobre's motorcycle.
Salvador revealed that the driver of the sedan was operating without a valid driver's license and was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Salobre was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital and admitted to the ward, but he ultimately succumbed to his severe injuries.
Frustration Over Investigation Delays
Salvador expressed deep frustration over the lack of significant progress in the case as of February 19. He described the investigation as moving at an unacceptably slow pace, drawing a stark comparison to the recent high-profile hit-and-run case in Barangay Banilad involving businessman Kingston Ralph Ko Cheng. Salvador feels that the justice system is unfairly biased, noting that authorities appeared to act swiftly in that case, while his son's tragedy has yet to see similar urgency.
He further alleged that the driver involved in the Mambaling crash was not detained and was permitted to return home. Additionally, Salvador claimed that the vehicle was not impounded, and the family has not received any form of financial assistance from the driver.
Efforts to Strengthen the Case
In an effort to bolster their pursuit of justice, Salvador has requested assistance from the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) to secure the necessary documents for obtaining CCTV footage from nearby establishments. He believes this footage could provide crucial clarity on how the collision occurred and help establish accountability.
Salvador is now urging all concerned agencies to ensure accountability and the equal application of the law, emphasizing his simple yet powerful plea: "Gusto lang ko og hustisya para sa akong anak (I just want justice for my son)." His call highlights broader concerns about road safety and judicial fairness in Cebu City.
