In a heartwarming display of community support, vlogger-pharmacist Arshie Larga has captured widespread attention by distributing P500 in fuel cash assistance to thousands of tricycle drivers in his hometown of Boac, Marinduque. The initiative, which took place on April 5 and 6, 2026, provided crucial relief during the ongoing energy crisis, benefiting a total of 1,169 drivers with a combined amount of P584,500.
Coordinated Effort with Local Associations
Larga detailed his approach in a Facebook post, explaining that he first coordinated with the Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association to ensure a smooth and organized distribution. By securing a complete list of members, he was able to partner effectively with local gasoline stations, streamlining the process to maximize impact and reach those most in need.
No Political Ambitions, Just a Desire to Help
Despite the viral nature of his actions, Larga was quick to clarify that he has no political ambitions. In his statement, he emphasized a simple goal: to assist tricycle drivers within his capacity during these challenging times. "Naisip ko lamang pong gawin ito upang makatulong po tayo sa ating mga tricycle drivers sa abot ng ating makakaya. Pasensya na po kung sila pa lang po ang kailangan kong tulungan ngayon," he said, translating to a heartfelt commitment to helping others without ulterior motives.
A History of Philanthropic Recognition
This is not Larga's first foray into charitable work. He first gained recognition on TikTok in 2022 for providing free medicines to underprivileged individuals, showcasing his dedication to healthcare and community welfare. His efforts were further acknowledged in 2024 when he was included in the prestigious Forbes "30 Under 30 Asia" list, highlighting his influence and positive impact beyond social media.
The distribution of fuel assistance underscores the growing role of digital influencers in addressing real-world issues, particularly in rural areas like Marinduque. As energy costs continue to rise, such initiatives offer a beacon of hope and practical support for essential workers like tricycle drivers, who play a vital role in local transportation and economies.
