Grand Marian Procession 2025 in Intramuros Features National Relic
Intramuros Grand Marian Procession Set for Dec 7

The historic walls of Intramuros in Manila will serve as the backdrop for a significant religious gathering this Sunday, December 7, 2025. The Minor Basilica and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, widely known as the Manila Cathedral, is calling on the Catholic faithful to participate in the Grand Marian Procession.

A Celebration of Marian Devotion

This annual event promises to be a vibrant display of faith, putting the spotlight on various revered images of the Blessed Virgin Mary from across the Philippines. The procession is a central feature of the celebrations leading to the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the principal patroness of both the Manila Cathedral and the entire Philippine nation.

In a special announcement, the cathedral extended a warm invitation to all, stating the procession will showcase the diverse representations of Mary deeply cherished in Filipino culture.

Veneration of Saint Carlo Acutis' Relic

A notable highlight of this year's procession is the presence of the National Pilgrim Relic of Saint Carlo Acutis. For the veneration of devotees, the relic will be placed at a roadside altar along Muralla Street, specifically on the side of the Baluarte de Dilao, throughout the event. This offers a unique opportunity for the faithful to honor the modern, millennial saint known for his devotion to the Eucharist.

Fiesta Mass Led by Cardinal Advincula

The spiritual festivities will continue into Monday, December 8, which is declared a special non-working holiday nationwide under Republic Act 10966. The day commemorates the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula will preside over the Fiesta Mass at 12:10 pm at the Manila Cathedral. A full schedule of masses has been organized for the solemnity:

  • 8:00 a.m. - Mass presided by Manila Cathedral Vice Rector Fr. Vicente Bautista
  • 10:00 a.m. - Mass presided by Fr. Paul Woo of the Mary Help of Christians Parish
  • 4:00 p.m. - Mass presided by Fr. Leo Ignacio of the San Carlos Seminary
  • 6:00 p.m. - Mass presided by Manila Cathedral Rector Msgr. Rolando dela Cruz

The combined events of the grand procession and the solemn masses underscore the deep-rooted Marian devotion in the Philippines, bringing together communities in prayer and celebration within the iconic Spanish-era district of Intramuros.
