The iconic Quiapo Church in Manila is set to hold a special religious event ahead of its world-famous January feast. A Thanksgiving Procession for the revered image of the Jesus Nazareno is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Procession Details and Route
During a press briefing on Monday, December 29, Quiapo Church technical adviser Alex Irasga outlined the plans. He explained that the procession will cover a 4.56-kilometer route around the City of Manila. Unlike the massive January event, this procession will have a different setup.
"The Thanksgiving Procession will take place tomorrow night. It has no carriage and no rope to pull. The image is on a float placed on a truck. It shall move like a slow-running car," Irasga stated.
Security and Expected Duration
The sacred image will be protected by members of the Hijos del Nazareno and police personnel who are also serving in the same devotional capacity. "They will be tasked to protect the image during the Thanksgiving Procession tomorrow," Irasga emphasized.
He also noted that this event is expected to be much shorter than the annual Traslacion held every January 9. "It will finish in two to three hours tomorrow," he added. The grand Traslacion typically involves hundreds of thousands of devotees and a longer, more arduous journey from the Quirino Grandstand back to Quiapo Church.
