Carpio Case Won't Affect Impeachment: Rep. Ridon

Bicol Saro Partylist Rep. Terry Ridon expressed confidence that the filing of cases by Atty. Manases Carpio at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office will not affect the impeachment proceedings. According to Ridon, the proceedings will continue as scheduled, including the next hearing of the House Justice Committee set for April 29, despite the multiple cases filed, such as violations of the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA), Bank Secrecy Law, and Data Privacy Act.

Ridon Challenges Carpio and VP Duterte's Camp

Ridon also addressed the camp of Carpio and Vice President Sara Duterte, stating that the filing of cases cannot hide the widespread financial activity exposed in the couple's accounts. He noted that Carpio's actions effectively admit that there is a 'factual basis' for the records released by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC). Ridon added that the couple's camp appears to acknowledge that transactions amounting to P6.77 billion indeed occurred.

Cases Do Not Refute Exposed Records

Ridon emphasized that the cases do not refute the exposed records or their accuracy, including billions of pesos in bank transactions. As chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, he maintained that AMLA, Bank Secrecy Law, and Data Privacy Act do not prohibit the release of such records, contrary to the basis of Carpio's case.
