Imee Marcos Recalls Cha-Cha Video in Senate Session

Senator Imee Marcos was forced to withdraw a video presentation she showed during the Senate plenary session on Monday, May 25, 2026, regarding alleged plans for Charter Change (Cha-Cha) related to the 2028 elections. The video contained accusations against some fellow senators who, she claimed, were pushing for Cha-Cha to prevent the 2028 elections from pushing through.

Minority Bloc Rejects Allegations

However, members of the minority bloc immediately refuted the presentation, labeling it as fake news and a malicious presentation. Senator Migz Zubiri strongly objected to the video and insisted that other senators should not be dragged into such allegations.

Marcos Withdraws Video

After some debate in the session, Marcos removed the material she had shown and said she was hurt by the reaction of her fellow lawmakers. “It is also offensive because of what some senators are saying about me, that I am deliberately lying... everything that comes out of my mouth is all BS, outright lies,” Marcos said, also citing alleged statements that she should be placed in a mental institution.

Despite this, the senator reiterated her call to ensure there will be no term extension and that the 2028 elections will push through. “In exchange, let us all promise our countrymen that no term extension will happen and there will be elections in 2028,” she added. Zubiri immediately agreed, stating that all senators want the 2028 elections to proceed.
