Ateneo President Subpoenaed Over Basketball Deaths

The Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has subpoenaed Ateneo de Manila University president Roberto Yap. Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla confirmed the subpoena to clarify the deaths of basketball players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

Remulla did not provide any information on when Ateneo men's basketball team manager Epok Quimpo will appear before the PNP-CIDG. On Friday, June 19, head coach Tab Baldwin, coaching staff Dean Castano, and athletic director Em Fernandez arrived at the PNP-CIDG. They gave statements regarding their involvement in the deaths of Baterbonia and Adili.

Baldwin and Yap had earlier apologized to the families of Adili and Baterbonia.
