Police Strongly Condemn Fatal Shooting of Town Councilor in Maguindanao del Sur
Simultaneously, the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) has issued a strong condemnation following the killing of a local official in Maguindanao del Sur. The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, when Councilor Samoan Kitalok of Paglat town was fatally shot at his residence in Poblacion village around 6 p.m.
According to police reports, two suspects arrived at Kitalok's home aboard a motorcycle and engaged in a brief conversation with him. Moments later, one of the assailants shot the councilor at close range, resulting in his immediate death. Police Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, PRO-BAR director, described the act as heinous and a severe violation of law, directly threatening the safety of public officials and their communities.
