Major Drug Bust in South Cotabato: Two High-Value Suspects Apprehended
In a significant blow to narcotics trafficking in the region, police officers have successfully arrested two high-value individuals (HVIs) and seized illegal drugs valued at approximately P350,200 during a meticulously planned anti-drug operation. The operation took place on Friday, March 13, at a waiting shed located in Glamang village, Polomolok, South Cotabato.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
According to Police Brigadier General Arnold Ardiente, the director of the Soccsksargen police, the suspects were identified through their aliases as Butchoy and Tin. Both individuals are residents of Tampakan, South Cotabato. The arrest occurred at around 12:48 p.m. on March 13 during a well-executed buy-bust operation.
During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated a substantial amount of evidence, including:
- Approximately 51.5 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P350,200
- A coin purse and a pouch, which were used as containers for the suspected illegal drugs
- P1,000 in marked money utilized in the operation
- Several personal cash bills
- A mobile phone believed to have been instrumental in facilitating the illegal drug transaction
Legal Proceedings and Police Commitment
The arrested suspects are currently under the temporary custody of the Polomolok Municipal Police Station. Authorities are preparing to file charges against them for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, a stringent law aimed at curbing drug-related activities in the Philippines.
Police Brigadier General Ardiente commended the operating units for their successful conduct of the operation. He emphasized the region's unwavering commitment to intensifying the campaign against illegal drugs.
