The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced a significant surge in civic participation, revealing that more than 350,000 Filipinos have already taken the first step to participate in the upcoming local polls.
Massive Turnout in Voter Registration
According to data released by the Comelec on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, a total of 356,421 individuals have submitted their applications to become registered voters. This data was collected during the period from October 20 to November 9, 2025, in preparation for the November 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
The breakdown shows a strong interest in both levels of local governance. Out of the total number, 297,600 applicants are seeking to vote in the Barangay polls, while 58,821 are young Filipinos applying to become Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters.
Leading Regions in Voter Application
The Calabarzon region has emerged as the frontrunner in this initial wave of registration, contributing 75,936 applicants to the national tally.
It is closely followed by the National Capital Region (NCR) with 49,342 applicants and Central Luzon with 39,841 individuals signing up.
Completing the list of top regions is Central Visayas, which has recorded 22,821 new voter applications so far.
Extended Registration Period
For citizens who have yet to register, the Comelec has emphasized that the voter registration period will continue for several more months. The opportunity to sign up will be available until May 18, 2026.
Additionally, the Comelec's Register Anywhere/Anytime Program (RAP) has also seen activity, accounting for 1,686 of the total applicants, providing greater flexibility for potential voters.
This early and robust response from the public highlights the continued importance Filipinos place on their right to vote and shape their communities' future.
