The possible final hearing on the two impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte will proceed this Wednesday, April 29, according to House Committee on Justice Chair Gerville Luistro. This is despite petitions seeking to halt the impeachment hearing.
Luistro: Hearing to Continue
Luistro stated that it is up to the members of the justice panel to consider the complaints filed in court when determining probable cause. However, regarding their proceedings, they will continue the hearing and conclude it by determining probable cause on the impeachment complaints.
Background: Carpio Complaint
Earlier on Monday, the camp of VP Sara's husband, Atty. Manases Carpio, filed a complaint against Luistro and other members of the Justice panel at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office. The complaint is related to alleged violations of the Bank Secrecy Law, Data Privacy Act, and Anti-Money Laundering Act due to the disclosure of the couple's bank transactions during the impeachment hearing on April 22.
