Under the established rules for impeachment proceedings, a respondent is granted 10 days to answer a complaint after receiving official notice. VP Duterte received her notice on March 5, which initially set a deadline of March 15. However, this deadline was extended to March 16 because it fell on a Sunday, in accordance with House regulations. This adjustment ensured that the Vice President had adequate time to prepare and submit her comprehensive reply.
Next Steps in the Impeachment Process
Following the submission of the respondent's reply, the House rules stipulate that complainants have three days to respond to the answer provided. Subsequently, the respondent is allowed an additional three days to submit a rejoinder, which may include supporting affidavits and evidence. Current Status of the Complaints
At present, the justice panel is actively hearing two out of the four original impeachment complaints.
