PNP Launches Urgent Probe into Viral Student Letter to President Marcos
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has initiated a high-priority investigation following the widespread circulation of a social media post featuring a heartfelt letter from an 11-year-old student addressed to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. The letter alleges severe harassment and abuse by a barangay official in Camarines Sur, prompting immediate action from authorities.
Immediate On-Site Verification Conducted
In an official statement released on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, PNP chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. confirmed that police units in Camarines Sur swiftly conducted on-site verification. Personnel from the Tinambac Municipal Police Station, alongside investigators from the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Unit, were dispatched to Barangay Caloco to validate the alarming claims and coordinate with all concerned individuals.
Disturbing Allegations in the Viral Letter
The letter, posted online by a non-profit organization based in Camarines Sur, contains harrowing details. The young girl pleaded for President Marcos' intervention, describing alleged harassment that she and other children in their community, whom she considers sisters, endured at the hands of a barangay official. According to the letter, the victim was impregnated following a rape and was allegedly abducted by the suspect to force an abortion. She further stated that she stopped attending school after being raped again.
The letter also accuses the barangay official of threatening to cut off their access to electricity and water, and to destroy or steal their crops if they broke their silence. These grave allegations quickly captured national attention, including that of the President.
President Marcos Assures Protection and Support
President Marcos responded directly to the post, expressing deep emotion and anger. "Your letter has reached me and brought me close to tears and made me very angry. I am sending policemen to you and your sisters to protect you and to find anyone who has hurt any of you," Marcos commented. He added, "I will make sure that you will be able to continue reading and studying as much as you want. You are a very brave, intelligent, and very kind girl, and I will make sure to help you and your sisters in any way you need."
Police Findings and Ongoing Case
General Nartatez reported that the verification process revealed concerns involving alleged harassment, community safety issues, and a previous rape case. Police records indicate that the rape case was filed in 2023 and is currently under trial at the Regional Trial Court, with the accused already detained at Tinangis Penal Farm. Investigators have interviewed the student's family, barangay officials, and the alleged victim as part of their thorough assessment.
Additionally, the PNP examined a separate complaint regarding missing electrical drop wires, which had been reported at the barangay level but remained unresolved due to some parties failing to appear during mediation. Follow-up operations are being carried out to further evaluate the situation and ensure that all concerns, particularly those involving minors, are properly addressed.
Commitment to Child Safety and Community Protection
Nartatez assured the public that reports involving children's safety are treated with the utmost urgency. The PNP will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies and pursue appropriate actions to safeguard the community. This case underscores the critical importance of protecting vulnerable individuals and ensuring justice in the face of serious allegations.
