The Bacolod City Government has granted local enterprises a significant extension for securing permits and settling their annual dues. The City Council has officially passed an ordinance moving the deadline for business permit renewals and the payment of associated taxes, fees, and charges to March 31, 2026.
Council Approves Mayor's Request for Flexibility
This decisive action came after the council, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, approved Mayor Greg Gasataya's request for an extension. The ordinance, authored and championed by Councilor Caesar Distrito, was passed on first, second, and third reading during the session. Distrito, who chairs the committee on human resource and development, stated that the measure is designed to provide much-needed relief and operational flexibility to business owners, with a particular focus on supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The primary goal is to ensure continued compliance with city regulations while acknowledging the potential cash flow challenges businesses may face. Distrito emphasized that the extension strategically balances the city's revenue collection objectives with its commitment to fostering a supportive environment for the local business sector.
Incentives for Early Payment and Penalty Waiver
The ordinance outlines a clear incentive structure to encourage timely compliance. Businesses that manage to settle their fees on or before February 28, 2026, will continue to enjoy a 10 percent discount on their business permit fees.
For those needing a little more time, the city has also waived penalties. Payments made after February 28 but before the new final deadline of March 31, 2026, will be accepted without any penalties or surcharges. This grace period allows business owners to organize their finances without the stress of incurring extra charges.
Boss Operations at BCGC Extended
The Business One-Stop-Shop (Boss), which is facilitating the streamlined processing of these permits and payments, will remain operational to accommodate the new timeline. The Boss had initially set up at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) lobby and second floor starting January 5, 2026, with an original end date of January 20. Its operations are now extended in line with the new deadline.
Councilor Distrito urged all business proprietors in Bacolod to take full advantage of this extended window. "This extension gives our business community enough time to comply without unnecessary pressure, while still encouraging early payment through incentives," he remarked. He called on the local business community to complete their renewals and payments within the prescribed period to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations.
