The DigiPlus Foundation has swiftly launched relief operations in Mindanao following the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8. Thousands of Filipinos are still recovering, and the foundation's efforts are bolstered by donations from users of the Charity tab on BingoPlus, the leading Filipino online entertainment platform. This enabled immediate mobilization and the first of several donation waves across multiple barangays in General Santos City.
Relief Distribution in General Santos City
On June 11, the foundation, alongside GenSan Vice Mayor Edmar Yumang and BingoPlus Store volunteers, conducted a ceremonial handover and then distributed water assistance to 1,000 families in Barangays Apopong, Fatima, Labangal, and San Jose. These families experienced disruptions to essential services due to the earthquake. Through its BayanihanPlus community resilience program, foundation volunteers worked through the Philippine Independence Day holiday with local partners and community leaders to ensure swift delivery of aid.
Continued Aid and Coordination
The assistance waves are expected to continue, with plans to visit multiple barangays on the island of Sarangani, another hard-hit province south of the Mindanao mainland. In Glan, Sarangani, Mayor Victor James Yap is leading the mobilization of goods alongside the DigiPlus Foundation. The foundation has committed to at least three donation waves to earthquake-affected areas.

Ongoing Challenges and Future Plans
Aftershocks and supply chain disruptions are expected to persist, and citizens of General Santos City and Sarangani will continue to need assistance. The foundation is in constant coordination with the Philippine government, specifically the Department of Social Work and Development, to address further needs as relief continues. The foundation encourages the public to contribute by downloading the BingoPlus app and using the Charity tab, ensuring that donations are multiplied through decisive BayanihanPlus action.
