Quezon City Authorities Report 87 Violations Following Enhanced Curfew Implementation

Quezon City police documented a total of 87 infractions on the first day of enforcing enhanced curfew hours and other local ordinances. This initiative is part of the Safer Cities Initiative led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) under Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla.

Detailed Breakdown of Violations and Operations

According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), patrols were conducted across various areas of the city, starting in Barangay Gulod, Novaliches. During these operations, 19 minors were apprehended for being on the streets past the designated curfew hours. These youths were immediately taken to the barangay hall along with their parents to coordinate with social workers.

Investigations revealed that some of these minors were not residents of the area, hailing from cities such as Las Piñas and Caloocan. Additionally, 13 individuals were arrested in Barangay Apolonio Samson and Manresa for violating ordinances against walking in public without upper garments, while seven more were detained in the same locations for curfew violations.

The QCPD emphasized that these actions are part of an intensified campaign by the local government to enforce laws and regulations, including curfew hours, prohibitions on public alcohol consumption, and other community safety measures.

Violation tickets have been issued to those apprehended, with fines ranging from ₱1,000 to ₱5,000, depending on the severity of the offense. Meanwhile, some minors remain in barangay custody as authorities continue to contact and engage with their parents or guardians.
