Philippine Catholic bishops are set to gather in Ozamiz City next week for their 32nd plenary assembly, according to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). The meeting will focus on pastoral priorities and pressing national issues.
Msgr. Bernardo Pantin, CBCP Secretary General, said the discussions will center on mental health, care for creation, and the global energy crisis, along with other issues affecting communities. The assembly will open with messages from Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown and CBCP President Archbishop Gilbert Garcera.
Key Issues on the Agenda
Pantin urged the faithful to pray for the bishops so that their discussions would be fruitful and serve the Church and the Filipino people with faithfulness and love. He described the assembly as an opportunity for bishops to dialogue, listen to one another, and examine ways and solutions to address community problems and needs.
Speakers expected to deliver messages include British Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe, a Dominican theologian; Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization; and Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, Bishop of Kalookan.
Call for Prayers and Unity
