Cebu Police Arrest Nearly 2,000 in Anti-Crime Operations

The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) has conducted a massive week-long anti-criminality campaign across the province, resulting in the apprehension of nearly two thousand individuals from January 19 to 25, 2026. This intensive effort underscores the authorities' commitment to maintaining law and order in local communities.

Ordinance Violations Lead Arrest Figures

According to data released by the CPPO, police launched 1,112 operations to enforce various local government unit ordinances throughout Cebu's towns and cities. These actions led to the arrest of 1,770 individuals, with fines totaling P96,510 imposed as penalties for the violations.

Crackdown on Illegal Drugs

In a parallel drive against illegal substances, authorities conducted 55 operations targeting drug-related activities. This resulted in the arrest of 71 suspects and the confiscation of 123.21 grams of suspected shabu, valued at approximately P837,828. All individuals involved have been formally charged in court.

Pursuit of Wanted Persons

The police also intensified their efforts to apprehend individuals with outstanding warrants. Through 48 operations, they successfully arrested 47 accused persons, including five classified as Most Wanted Persons and 42 as other wanted individuals. All have been transferred to custodial facilities in their respective localities.

Campaign Against Loose Firearms

Additionally, the CPPO executed 12 operations focused on loose firearms, seizing seven weapons. Of these, four were surrendered to police stations, along with one explosive device. Nine persons were arrested in connection with these incidents and have been charged accordingly.

This comprehensive anti-crime initiative highlights the proactive measures taken by Cebu police to address various forms of criminal activity, ensuring public safety across the province.
