In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) conducted a successful buy-bust operation on Holy Wednesday, April 1, 2026, resulting in the arrest of a notorious drug personality. The operation, which took place at 8:00 PM in Lorega San Miguel, targeted an individual who continued to sell shabu despite the solemnity of Semana Santa.
Suspect and Seized Evidence
The arrested suspect, identified by the alias "Mike," is a 45-year-old resident of City Central, Barrio Luz, Cebu City. During the operation, authorities confiscated several large packages of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 105 grams. According to police estimates, the seized drugs have a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P714,000. All evidence has been forwarded to the City Forensic Unit of the CCPO for chemical analysis to confirm the substance.

Police reports indicate that the CIU received credible information regarding the suspect's ongoing illegal drug trade, even during the Holy Week celebrations. After thorough validation and confirmation of these illicit activities, the operation was swiftly launched. Investigation revealed that "Mike" is classified as a High Value Target (HVT), capable of distributing large supplies of illegal drugs to his clients in Lorega and neighboring barangays.

The suspect is currently detained as authorities prepare to file charges under Section 5 (Sale) and Section 11 (Possession) of Article II in Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
