The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) has announced a marked improvement in the region's safety and security landscape for the month of November 2025. Key crime statistics show substantial reductions compared to the same period last year, signaling the effectiveness of current law enforcement strategies.
Significant Drops Across Major Crime Indicators
According to the latest data released on December 5, 2025, the total number of crime incidents (TCI) in Western Visayas fell to 1,687 cases in November 2025. This represents a decrease of 114 incidents, or a 6.33 percent decline, from the 1,801 cases recorded in November 2024.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, the chief of PRO 6, attributed this positive trend to a multi-faceted approach. "These numbers are a testament to the hard work, discipline, and unwavering commitment of our police officers, as well as the strong partnership we have built with our communities," Ligan stated. He highlighted intensified police operations, greater visibility of officers, and enhanced coordination with local government units and community partners as key drivers behind the decline.
Sharp Decline in Index and Focus Crimes
The report revealed even more dramatic improvements in specific crime categories. The Peace and Order Indicator (POI), a critical metric, saw a 17.36 percent decrease, dropping from 749 to 619 incidents.
Perhaps most notably, index crimes—which include serious offenses like murder, homicide, theft, robbery, and physical injury—plummeted by 39.53 percent. Cases in this category fell from 172 in November 2024 to just 104 in November 2025.
The ten focus crimes collectively posted an overall reduction of 39.77 percent, with 68 fewer cases recorded (down from 171 to 103). While theft and physical injury remained the most reported incidents within this group, both categories still showed notable declines. Non-index crimes also decreased by 10.75 percent.
Heightened Security for the Holiday Season
With the festive season underway, PRO 6 has committed to maintaining and even strengthening its security posture. Brig. Gen. Ligan assured the public that the police force will not become complacent. "The consistent decline in crime incidents shows that our strategies are working. Rest assured, PRO 6 will continue to intensify operations, enhance police visibility, and strengthen community engagement to ensure the safety and security of Western Visayas," he emphasized.
The regional police office plans to sustain heightened security measures and a continuous police presence across community activities to ensure a peaceful holiday period for all residents.
