Iloilo Police Apprehend High-Value Drug Suspect and Accomplices in Pavia Buy-Bust Operation

In a significant blow to illegal drug activities in the region, operatives from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) executed a meticulously planned buy-bust operation in Barangay Balabag, Pavia, Iloilo, on the evening of March 20, 2026. The operation culminated in the arrest of a high-value individual (HVI) and two street-value individuals (SVIs), alongside the confiscation of approximately 135 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P918,000.

Successful Operation Leads to Three Arrests and Major Drug Seizure

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the IPPO conducted the operation at around 9 p.m., following nearly three weeks of intensive validation and surveillance. This effort was initiated based on credible reports from vigilant community members regarding the suspects' alleged involvement in illicit drug trafficking. The primary target, identified only by the alias Denmark, is a 36-year-old unemployed resident of Barangay Balabag, Pavia, Iloilo, who was classified as an HVI due to his significant role in the drug trade.

His alleged accomplices include alias Justine, a 25-year-old unemployed resident of the same barangay, and alias Melvin, a 39-year-old unemployed resident of Barangay Bolilao, Dumangas, Iloilo, both categorized as SVIs. Authorities revealed that the suspects were reportedly sourcing illegal drugs from Iloilo City and distributing them within Pavia, contributing to the local drug proliferation.

"Congratulations to our operatives for the smooth operation in the arrest of three more drug personalities. We also thank our fellow citizens for their strong support and trust in our Ilonggo Cops. This only shows that your police do not stop guarding our province against the scourge of illegal drugs," he stated.

The seized contraband, consisting of the 135 grams of shabu, was recovered during the operation and is now held as evidence. The arrested individuals are currently detained at the Pavia Municipal Police Station (MPS), where they are facing formal charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Intensified Anti-Drug Campaign and Ongoing Commitment

This operation is a key component of the IPPO's intensified anti-illegal drug campaign, which aims to curb the spread of dangerous substances and ensure public safety across Iloilo province. Under the steadfast leadership of Police Colonel Razalan, the IPPO has reiterated its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against drug-related activities. The force is also focused on strengthening coordination with local communities to maintain peace and order, highlighting a proactive approach to law enforcement.
