Mawab LGU Rolls Out Free ECG Testing Program to Strengthen Community Health

The Local Government of Mawab in Davao de Oro has officially launched its free ECG (Electrocardiogram) Testing Program on Monday, February 9, 2026. This initiative is designed to bolster preventive healthcare efforts and promote the early detection of heart-related conditions among residents, marking a significant step in the municipality's health agenda.

Program Details and Availability

The free ECG testing service will be available to the public from Monday to Thursday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., at the Mawab Super Health Center. The center is conveniently located at the Municipal Grounds in Purok 6, Poblacion, ensuring easy access for community members seeking this vital health service.

Target Beneficiaries and Requirements

The program specifically prioritizes several key groups to maximize its impact on public health:

  • Residents with existing heart conditions
  • Individuals diagnosed with high blood pressure
  • Senior citizens who are more vulnerable to cardiovascular issues
  • Patients referred by their attending physicians for further evaluation

To ensure a smooth and efficient service delivery, participants are encouraged to bring their health cards or medical prescriptions if available. This documentation will aid in proper assessment and record-keeping, facilitating better follow-up care and monitoring.

Mayor's Vision and Future Health Initiatives

Mawab Mayor Myrill Apit highlighted that the free ECG testing is a cornerstone of a broader health strategy aimed at expanding access to essential medical services in the municipality. In a statement, she emphasized, "In the New Mawab, the health of our people comes first. Through collective effort, we can build stronger hearts and a stronger Mawab."

Mayor Apit further announced upcoming health initiatives that will complement the ECG program:

  1. The distribution of free maintenance medicines is scheduled to begin in the coming month, providing ongoing support for chronic conditions.
  2. The launch of free X-ray services in the near future, which will further enhance diagnostic capabilities and address diverse healthcare needs.

Administration's Health Agenda

These health programs are integral components of the administration's Serbisyong Legit at Sulit agenda, which focuses on delivering practical, responsive, and people-centered services to the community. By prioritizing preventive measures and early intervention, the LGU aims to reduce the burden of heart diseases and improve overall well-being in Mawab.

The rollout of the free ECG testing program reflects a proactive approach to public health, empowering residents with accessible tools for heart health management and fostering a healthier, more resilient municipality.
