P72K Marijuana Seized, Suspect Arrested in Loon, Bohol

Authorities in Bohol have intercepted a significant shipment of illegal drugs and arrested a suspect following a meticulously planned police operation in the early hours of Sunday.

Dawn Raid Nets High-Value Marijuana

Operatives from the Loon Municipal Police Station conducted a successful buy-bust operation at 2:48 a.m. on December 21, 2025, in Purok 7, Barangay Song-on, Loon. The target of the operation was Jan Lerein Mesina, a 26-year-old food vendor also known by the alias “Johny-Johny.”

Police recovered from Mesina two blocks of dried marijuana leaves with a total weight of 608.2 grams. The contraband has an estimated street value of P72,984.00.

Shipment from Cavite Misdeclared as Candy

The operation was launched after police received credible intelligence about a suspicious parcel addressed to Mesina. Investigation revealed that the parcel, which allegedly contained the dried marijuana leaves, was shipped from the Province of Cavite.

To evade detection by authorities and ensure delivery, the package was misdeclared as containing candy. Under the leadership of Capt. Thomas Zen Cheung, the Loon police validated the information and swiftly organized the anti-illegal drug operation that led to the suspect's arrest.

Suspect Faces Serious Drug Charges

According to police reports, Mesina, a native of Dasma Bayan, Dasmariñas, Cavite, was currently residing in San Isidro, Barangay Libertad, Baclayon, Bohol. He has been identified as involved in the distribution of illegal drugs across various towns and cities in the province.

Following his arrest, Mesina was detained at the Loon Municipal Police Station’s custodial facility. He is now facing formal charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

This arrest highlights the continued vigilance of local police units against the proliferation of illegal substances, even those attempting to enter the province through parcel delivery services using deceptive methods.
