P73K Marijuana Seized, Dealer Arrested in Bohol Buy-Bust

Authorities in Bohol province have intercepted a significant shipment of marijuana and arrested an alleged provincial-level dealer following a carefully planned sting operation in the town of Loon.

Dawn Raid Nets High-Value Suspect and Contraband

In the early hours of Sunday, December 21, 2025, operatives from the Loon Municipal Police Station conducted a successful buy-bust operation in Purok 7, Barangay Song-on, Loon, Bohol. The operation, which commenced at 2:48 AM, led to the arrest of Jan Lerein Mesina, alias "Johny-Johny," a 26-year-old food vendor.

Mesina, a native of Dasmariñas, Cavite, was currently residing in Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Libertad, Baclayon. From him, police operatives confiscated two blocks of dried marijuana leaves with a total weight of 608.2 grams. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is P72,984.

Tracking a Provincial Drug Distributor

According to an investigation led by Police Captain Thomas Zen Cheung, chief of the Loon Municipal Police Station, Mesina had been identified as a known distributor of illegal drugs operating across the entire province of Bohol. The operation was launched after police received prior intelligence that Mesina was expecting a suspicious parcel containing marijuana leaves shipped from Cavite.

The parcel was declared as a candy package, a common method used to disguise illicit shipments. After confirming the details, authorities swiftly organized the anti-illegal drug operation that resulted in Mesina's capture.

Legal Consequences and Charges Filed

The suspect now faces serious legal repercussions for his alleged involvement in the drug trade. The police have prepared charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Section 5 pertains to the sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution, and transportation of dangerous drugs, while Section 11 covers possession. The case underscores the continued vigilance of local police units in Bohol against the proliferation of illegal substances within their communities.
