Malacañang has sharply criticized Vice President Sara Duterte, stating she has not contributed anything to the nation's progress under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro made the remark in response to Duterte's criticisms of government officials who call for transparency and accountability, which Duterte claimed are driven by personal political interests.
Palace official questions Duterte's role
“What has the Vice President contributed to the President regarding the order, peace, and development of the country? Nothing,” Castro said in a statement. The official added that Duterte should instead discipline her allies to stop politicking and spreading fake information against the President and his administration.
Duterte's call for transparency
Earlier, Duterte urged the government to focus on order, peace, and national development. She also criticized officials for what she described as using calls for transparency and accountability for their own political gain. However, Castro countered that Duterte's accusations are unfounded and that the Vice President must answer the allegations against her.
Castro: 'Concealing truth is betrayal'
“It is her obligation as Vice President to answer the accusations against her. Concealing the truth about this is a betrayal of the country. There is no politicking here,” Castro added. The Palace official emphasized that the administration remains focused on its agenda and that Duterte's actions are not helping the nation.
