In a massive 24-hour law enforcement surge across Central Visayas, police operatives have confiscated suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P3.8 million and arrested 33 individuals, including high-value targets. The intensive operations, which began on Friday, December 19, 2025, underscore a heightened security drive as the Christmas season approaches.
Major Drug Haul and Arrests Across the Region
The Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) reported the seizure of a total of 569.31 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu. The bulk of the confiscated drugs came from the province of Bohol, where authorities recovered 389.21 grams valued at approximately P2,646,268.
Following closely, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) accounted for 172.34 grams worth around P1,171,912. Additional operations by the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), together with the Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue police forces, led to the seizure of drugs valued at P37,196.
Among the 33 drug suspects apprehended were two high-value targets and 32 newly identified drug personalities, marking a significant blow to local drug networks.
Campaign Against Loose Firearms and Wanted Persons
Parallel to the anti-drug operations, PRO7's campaign against loose firearms yielded the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of five illegal firearms. Police officials stated that this seizure has helped prevent potential crimes during the busy holiday period.
In a separate manhunt operation targeting wanted individuals, PRO7 personnel successfully captured 10 accused persons facing various charges. Two of those arrested were classified as most wanted persons in their respective areas.
Heightened Readiness for a Peaceful Christmas
Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, the chief of PRO7, attributed the operation's success to effective focus and synchronized police work. "These results, achieved in just one day, reflect PRO7’s heightened operational readiness," Maranan said.
"As the holidays draw near, we will sustain intensified operations to protect our communities from illegal drugs, loose firearms, and criminal elements," he added, emphasizing the command's commitment to public safety.
PRO7 has assured the public of continued robust law enforcement operations to deter criminal activities. The police force also pledged to enhance police visibility throughout Central Visayas to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and safe celebration of Christmas and the welcoming of the New Year.
