Mayors Group Slams Sen. Bato Dela Rosa Over 7-Month Absence
Mayors Slam Bato Dela Rosa for 7-Month Absence

The group Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) has issued a statement regarding the controversial absence of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa from the Senate for seven months, before he reappeared on May 14, 2026 to vote on the change of leadership.

Salary Without Attendance

According to the group, while Dela Rosa receives nearly P300,000 per month, his total salary during his absence has reached an estimated P2.1 million, despite failing to attend sessions. The mayors pointed out that for ordinary workers, the principle of “no work, no pay” applies, and such prolonged absences would normally result in suspension or termination of employment.

Insult to the People

They argued that it is a great insult to the public for an elected official to continue receiving a salary while not fulfilling his duties, especially as Filipinos face daily hardships, high prices of goods, and an economic crisis. The group called on senators not to make the Senate a sanctuary for absenteeism and not to protect officials who shirk their responsibilities.
