Bicol Saro party-list Representative Terry Ridon expressed confidence that a majority of the House Committee on Justice will vote to declare probable cause in the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Evidence Described as 'Nuclear Bomb'
Ridon stated that the evidence against Duterte is no longer a simple 'smoking gun' but has escalated into a 'nuclear bomb.' This follows the Anti-Money Laundering Council’s disclosure of suspicious transactions amounting to PHP 6.7 billion allegedly linked to the Vice President and her family.
Upcoming Hearing and Expected Vote
The next and possibly final hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29. During this session, remaining complaints are expected to be discussed, including allegations of threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and former House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
Ridon anticipates that the House will approve a committee report recommending impeachment and secure the necessary votes to transmit it to the Senate.
Committee Chair Representative Gerville Luistro indicated that the vote on probable cause could take place immediately after the hearing if no additional hearing days are requested.
