Man Shot by Cousin Over Drug Debt in Cebu City

A 29-year-old man was shot by his cousin over an alleged illegal drug debt at around 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.

Victim and Suspect Identified

The Mabolo Police Station identified the victim as Ronald Mark Linte, unemployed and a native of Barangay Lorega San Miguel. He sustained a gunshot wound to his chin.

The suspect was quickly arrested and identified as Rico Bello Linte, 25, unemployed, and residing in Sitio Agay-ay, Barangay Tejero, during a hot pursuit operation by authorities.

Investigation Details

Based on police investigation, before the shooting, the cousins had a dispute in Barangay Kasambagan over a P12,000 debt the victim owed for illegal drugs.

Ronald told investigators that he had temporarily left his home in Lorega because he feared for his safety, as this was not the first but the second time the suspect had attempted to shoot him on separate occasions.

The suspect is currently detained at the Mabolo Police Station while appropriate charges are being prepared against him.
