House lead prosecutor and Batangas Representative Gerville Luistro assured that the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte will push through on July 6, 2026, following the first pre-trial conference of the impeachment court in the Senate.
Luistro stated that the marking of documentary exhibits related to the Articles of Impeachment has already commenced and is expected to be completed by June 22 as pre-trial proceedings continue. According to the lawmaker, it is clear that the trial remains scheduled to start on July 6 and will proceed without interruption.
The pre-trial order is also expected to be released after the completion of exhibit marking, which will serve as a guide for subsequent hearings. The House prosecution panel has prepared over 30 potential witnesses, while the defense camp has also submitted its own list of witnesses and documents.
Luistro emphasized that what matters now is that the process continues to move forward and the start of the impeachment trial remains set for July 6.
