The Provincial Government of Pampanga has significantly enhanced its healthcare services with the inauguration of a new, major dialysis facility. The Provincial Dialysis Center II in Apalit town officially opened its doors on December 7, 2025, marking a critical step in improving access to life-saving treatment for residents with kidney conditions.
A Collaborative Effort for Public Health
The inauguration ceremony was led by key provincial and local figures, including Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda. They were joined by Apalit Mayor Jun Tetangco, alongside officials from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). This highlights the collaborative nature of the project, which was realized under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
The partnership involved the Pampanga Provincial Government, the Apalit Local Government Unit, B. Braun Corp., and the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Hospital. Significant investments were made: the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) allocated P30 million for the building construction, while the DOH provided 40 dialysis machines and a water reverse osmosis system. The land for the vital facility was generously donated by Jen Tetangco.
Expanding Access to Free Treatment
The new center is strategically positioned to serve patients not only from Apalit but also from surrounding towns. With a daily capacity to accommodate more than 200 patients, the facility is expected to drastically reduce wait times and travel burdens for those requiring regular dialysis sessions. In a major relief for patients, the provincial government confirmed that dialysis treatment at the center will be free through PhilHealth coverage.
A Blueprint for Provincial Healthcare
The opening of the Apalit center is not an isolated project but part of a broader healthcare expansion plan for Pampanga. The provincial government announced that more provincial dialysis centers are currently being developed in the First and Third Districts of the province. This systematic rollout aims to ensure that quality healthcare services are accessible and equitable across all areas of Pampanga, bringing essential medical support closer to people's homes.
This initiative represents a concrete response to the growing need for specialized renal care and sets a benchmark for other provinces in leveraging public-private collaborations for critical health infrastructure.
