PCSO Nears Complete National Coverage with Patient Transport Vehicle Donations

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has significantly advanced the nation's emergency medical response capabilities by distributing ten new Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to various local government units. This latest donation, handed over during a ceremony at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City on Friday, November 28, 2025, brings the total number of PTVs distributed across the country to an impressive 1,630 units.

Expanding Access to Emergency Medical Care

This initiative is a direct response to the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who prioritized equipping every province, city, and municipality with reliable patient transport under the Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP). The program is a cornerstone of the administration's strategy to strengthen universal access to emergency medical services. The recent distribution achieved a monumental 99-percent coverage rate nationwide, a significant leap from the 680 PTVs in circulation when President Marcos assumed office in 2022.

The ten beneficiary cities in this latest turnover are: San Pedro City, Calapan City, Legazpi City, Ilagan City, Malolos City, Muñoz City, San Jose City, Olongapo City, Iriga City, and Angeles City. Each vehicle is a fully-equipped mobile medical unit, outfitted with essential gear to ensure patient safety during transit. This includes a stretcher, an oxygen tank, a wheelchair, a comprehensive first-aid kit, a blood pressure monitor, and a secure medicine cabinet.

A Rapid Drive Towards 100% Coverage

The PCSO has intensified its implementation of the MTVDP throughout 2025, achieving several record-setting milestones. Just days before this recent event, on November 25, the agency distributed a massive 82 PTVs in Bacolod City, which pushed the national coverage to 98 percent. These consistent achievements underscore the PCSO's unwavering commitment to ensuring that all communities, from major urban centers to remote rural municipalities, have access to lifesaving medical transport.

To finalize this critical national project, the PCSO has allocated PHP 1 billion for the procurement of an additional 395 Patient Transport Vehicles in 2025. The agency is steadfast in its goal to achieve 100% nationwide coverage by the end of the year, ensuring no community is left behind in receiving timely emergency medical assistance.
