Cooper Flagg Wins NBA Rookie of the Year Award

Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg has been named the NBA Rookie of the Year, becoming the first rookie since Michael Jordan in the 1984-85 season to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. The 19-year-old Flagg edged out former Duke teammate Kon Knueppel of the Charlotte Hornets in a tight vote, highlighted by two games where Flagg scored a combined 96 points.

Other NBA Awards

Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs won the Defensive Player of the Year award, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder took home the Clutch Player of the Year award. Keldon Johnson of the Spurs was named Sixth Man of the Year. Derrick White of the Boston Celtics received the Sportsmanship Award, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker of the Atlanta Hawks was recognized as the Most Improved Player.
