PICE Fun Run 2026 Set for May 10 in Davao to Benefit Indigenous Peoples Children

The 4th Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Fun Run is scheduled to take place on May 10, 2026, at Freedom Park along Roxas Avenue in Davao City. The event will kick off with a gun start at 4 a.m., welcoming runners of all levels and ages to participate in a community-focused fitness initiative.

Event Details and Categories

Organizers have opened three race categories to accommodate diverse skill levels: a 21-kilometer run, a 10-kilometer run, and a 5-kilometer run. Engr. Darwin Santos, past president of PICE, emphasized during the Davao Sportswriters Association Forum on April 16, 2026, that the event is not limited to civil engineers but is open to everyone. This inclusive approach aims to foster community engagement and promote healthy lifestyles across all demographics.

Prizes and Participant Perks

Winners in each category will receive cash prizes, with separate awards for men and women to ensure fair competition. All participants will be provided with race kits that include singlets, finisher shirts, medals, and wristbands. Additionally, category-specific items will be distributed: towels for 21K runners, caps for 10K runners, and headgear for 5K participants, adding value to the registration experience.

Route Information and Safety Measures

The routes have been carefully planned to showcase key areas of Davao City. The 21K run will pass through Bajada, R. Castillo, and Quezon Boulevard, offering a scenic challenge. The 10K route will extend to the Agdao flyover, while the 5K will remain within the Bajada area for a more accessible option. Organizers secured necessary permits as early as January to ensure compliance and safety. The Striders group, in coordination with government agencies, will have ambulances and medical teams on standby to address any emergencies during the event.

Registration Fees and Charitable Cause

Registration fees are set at ₱1,350 for the 5K category, ₱1,750 for the 10K, and ₱2,150 for the 21K. Proceeds from the run will support Indigenous Peoples (IP) children in Marilog District, with funds allocated for school supplies and, if sufficient, repairs to comfort rooms. Engr. Santos highlighted that if enough income is generated, they plan to repair the children's comfort rooms, underscoring the event's commitment to making a tangible impact on local communities.

Community Impact and Expectations

Organizers anticipate a strong turnout for the PICE Fun Run, as it combines elements of fitness, community building, and charitable giving. This event not only promotes physical well-being but also addresses educational and infrastructural needs for vulnerable groups. By engaging participants in a meaningful cause, the run aims to create a lasting positive effect in Davao City and beyond.
