The San Antonio Spurs secured a monumental 111-103 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the NBA Western Conference Finals on Saturday, silencing the crowd at the Paycom Center. This marks the biggest road win of the season for the Spurs, who advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014.
Key Performances
Victor Wembanyama, standing at 7-foot-4, led the Spurs with 22 points and seven rebounds. Julian Champagnie added 20 points, including six three-pointers, while Stephon Castle contributed 16 points. Wembanyama was named the Western Conference Finals MVP after the Spurs' stunning 4-3 series win over the top-seeded Thunder, who were heavily favored to win the championship.
Spurs' Mission Continues
Despite the triumph, Wembanyama emphasized the team's hunger for more. "Though we’re still hungry for one more, this feeling is, I can’t explain it, it’s so powerful," he said in an NBA article. "We want four more. We’re not done. Go Spurs go."
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander posted 35 points in a losing effort for Oklahoma City.
Historic Finals Rematch
The Spurs will face the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals, a rematch of the 1999 championship series. In that year, San Antonio, led by Tim Duncan and David Robinson, defeated an injured Knicks team missing Patrick Ewing. Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals is scheduled for Wednesday at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
