A motorcyclist died while his girlfriend was injured after they collided with an electric post along the National Highway in Barangay North Poblacion, San Fernando town, at around 5:25 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Victims Identified
The driver, declared dead on arrival at the Carcar City Provincial Hospital, was identified as Franz Ruel Cabanada, 21. His injured girlfriend was identified as Riolyn Trisana, 20. Both were residents of Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City.
Investigation Details
According to the San Fernando Municipal Police Station investigation, the victims were returning home after swimming in a pool in the southern part of Cebu. Upon reaching the area, due to excessive speed, Cabanada lost control of his motorcycle. He first hit a parked motorcycle and water pipes before finally crashing into a concrete electric post.
Due to the strong impact, Trisana was thrown off the motorcycle, while Cabanada remained on his bike, unconscious. Rescue personnel from San Fernando immediately brought the victims to the Carcar City Provincial Hospital. However, Dr. Eric John Litang declared Cabanada dead on arrival due to severe head and body injuries.
As of this report, Trisana is still under observation by doctors.
