Cesafi Resumes Basketball Action November 17 After Weather Delays
Cesafi Basketball Returns November 17 After Delays

The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) is set to resume its basketball tournaments for both college and high school divisions on November 17, 2025, marking a return to regular action after multiple weather-related postponements.

Compressed Schedule for Tournament Completion

Commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy Jr. confirmed that games will be held daily at the Cebu Coliseum until the tournament concludes around mid-December. This intensive scheduling comes as Cesafi officials work to make up for lost time following several game cancellations.

The disruptions were caused by a series of natural disasters that affected Cebu, beginning with a magnitude 6.9 earthquake and continuing through the impact of Typhoon Tino. Additional events and activities also contributed to the need for rescheduling throughout the tournament season.

Priority Given to College and High School Divisions

In their determination to complete the high school and college division competitions within the current year, Cesafi leadership has made the strategic decision to postpone remaining games in the 12 Under and 15 Under categories until next year.

Commissioner Tiukinhoy expressed optimism that no further delays will affect the remainder of the basketball season. The compressed schedule represents a significant challenge for participating teams, who will now face back-to-back games as the organization works toward completing all scheduled matches.

The return to Cebu Coliseum on November 17, 2025 marks an important milestone for student-athletes who have been waiting to resume competition after the unexpected break in the tournament schedule.
