Mark Magsayo embraces new Zuffa Boxing single-belt system
Magsayo backs Zuffa Boxing's single-belt system

Former world champion Filipino boxer Mark Magsayo has embraced what is described as a new era in boxing, where the traditional multi-belt system is replaced by a single belt owned by Zuffa Boxing, according to a report on www.gmanews.tv.

Magsayo's Support for Zuffa Boxing

Magsayo is impressed with the Zuffa Boxing system because it features only one world ranking and one world champion per weight division, unlike the traditional system where four major boxing bodies each have their own world rankings and champions.

Traditional vs. Zuffa System

In the traditional setup, a boxer must capture all titles from the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Organization (WBO), and International Boxing Federation (IBF) to be called an undisputed champion in a weight division. However, under the Zuffa Boxing system, a boxer is considered an undisputed champion upon winning the single title, similar to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Magsayo's Ambitions

Although Zuffa Boxing has not yet released official rankings, Magsayo aims to emerge as the top contender in his weight class, the lightweight division, once the rankings are published.

Founders of Zuffa Boxing

Zuffa Boxing was formed by UFC CEO Dana White, an American, and Turki Al-Sheikh, who is the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) in Saudi Arabia.
