Sarino Claims Victory in Hard-Fought Main Event
Rising boxing prospect Mark Anthony Sarino demonstrated his potential by securing a hard-earned unanimous decision victory against fellow contender Brian Bustrillo. The eight-round main event headlined Big Yellow Promotions' "Bakbakan Kwatro" boxing card on Saturday, November 8, 2025, held at the Conequip Philippines Inc. Showroom in Mandaue City.
A Neck-and-Neck Battle Decided by a Knockdown
The fight was a closely contested affair from the opening bell, with both athletes exchanging powerful punches. The momentum shifted decisively in Sarino's favor during the fourth round when he scored a crucial knockdown. He overwhelmed Bustrillo with a combination of punches, finishing with a sharp right straight that sent his opponent to the canvas.
This pivotal moment proved significant on the judges' scorecards. Two officials, Noel Flores and Arnel Pasion, submitted identical scores of 77-74 for Sarino. However, judge Edwin Barrientos saw the contest differently, scoring it 77-74 in favor of Bustrillo, highlighting the competitive nature of the bout.
Trainer's Assessment and Future Prospects
Following the win, Sarino's trainer, former champion Christopher "Ping-Ping" Tepora, expressed optimism about his fighter's career. He told SunStar Cebu, "With what I saw in Mark’s fight, the kid has a future. He still has a lot to improve in training though. His courage and power is there but we still need to add more to his skills so that he’ll become a complete fighter."
With this result, Sarino's professional record improves to 6-1 with three knockouts. Meanwhile, Bustrillo's record falls to 4-2, also with three knockouts.
