Tanzanian Boxer Yohana Issues Warning to Filipino Suganob

Tanzanian Contender Issues Stern Warning to Filipino Opponent

World-rated Tanzanian boxer Mchanja Yohana has sent a strong message to rising Filipino star Regie Suganob ahead of their highly anticipated showdown in Bohol. The 27-year-old African fighter boldly declared that Suganob has never encountered an opponent like him before.

In a recent interview posted on PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions' Facebook page, Yohana delivered a direct challenge: "Regie, you have to do your math very carefully. I know you have faced many tough and respected champions in your career. But this time, it's different."

The confident Tanzanian emphasized his unique fighting style, warning that Suganob will face "the most stubborn, most relentless and toughest fighter" he has ever encountered in the ring.

Clash of Titans in Bohol Main Event

The two fighters are set to collide in a 110-pound catchweight fight that headlines the "Kumong Bol-anon XXIII" event on Sunday, November 22, 2025. The venue for this exciting matchup is the PMI Main Campus Gym in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Yohana enters the bout with impressive credentials, currently holding the WBO Global flyweight belt and ranked No. 8 by the World Boxing Organization in the flyweight division. This marks his second appearance in Philippine boxing rings, having previously fought former world champion Milan Melindo in Cebu City back in 2023.

Despite losing that bout to Melindo by unanimous decision, Yohana has since mounted an impressive eight-fight winning streak. During this dominant run, he captured the vacant WBO Global belt by defeating Filipino knockout artist Miel Fajardo in Tanzania.

Stakes High for Both Combatants

For Suganob, this fight represents a crucial moment in his career. The Filipino boxer finds himself in a must-win situation as he seeks another shot at a world championship. Currently ranked No. 4 by the WBO and No. 9 by the World Boxing Council, Suganob needs a victory over a world-ranked opponent like Yohana to boost his position in the rankings.

Suganob previously challenged for a world title in 2023, suffering a unanimous decision loss to then-IBF light-flyweight champion Sivenathi Nontshinga in South Africa. However, he has since rebounded strongly with three consecutive victories against world-rated opponents Ronald Chacon, Kai Ishizawa, and Nanthanon Thongchai.

The statistics reveal an intriguing matchup: Suganob boasts a record of 16-1 with six knockouts, while Yohana stands at 22-6-1 with fifteen knockouts, indicating significant punching power from the Tanzanian fighter.

Undercard Features Exciting Title Bouts

The event features two additional championship fights that promise to deliver explosive action. Undefeated hard-hitter Leonard Pores III (8-0, 7 KOs) will face Cebu-based Japanese prospect Kiyoto Narukami (5-1-1, 2 KOs) for the vacant IBF flyweight strap.

Meanwhile, Freshler Utrera (4-0, 2 KOs) battles Cebuano Sherwin Dacullo (4-1-1, 2 KOs) for the vacant Philippine Games and Amusements Board Youth minimumweight title, ensuring Filipino fight fans get their money's worth throughout the entire card.

As the November 22 date approaches, boxing enthusiasts eagerly await this clash between two determined fighters with everything to prove in the ring.
