Just days after steering the crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings to a championship, veteran import Justin Brownlee is already looking ahead to his next mission in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50. The 38-year-old Brownlee is preparing for the PBA Governor's Cup, following their thrilling Game 7 victory over rival TNT Tropang 5G in the Commissioner's Cup finals.
Brownlee Eyes Another Title
As the next conference—the Governor's Cup—approaches, the 6-foot-6 Brownlee remains focused on winning another championship. He has a history of dominance in the Governor's Cup, having led Ginebra to four titles in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021.
The Governor's Cup is set to open on July 10, 2026.
"Ten years ago, I would never have thought I'd be still playing at 38 years old and winning championships," Brownlee said shortly after the PBA Finals.
Brownlee is targeting his eighth title in the upcoming conference. He also aims to achieve a double championship in a single season, a feat accomplished last year by TNT's Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who won both the Commissioner's Cup and Governor's Cup.
The question now is whether Brownlee still has enough fuel left in his tank after his intense performance in the Commissioner's Cup, where he averaged 34.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in the Finals.
