Senior Citizens to Compete in Power 60 Friendship Cup Basketball

The senior citizens are set to showcase their basketball skills in the Power 60 Friendship Cup basketball tournament, which will begin on Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, at the Pardo Sports Complex in Poblacion Pardo, Cebu City.

Seven teams will compete in the tournament exclusively for basketball players aged 60 and above. The participating teams are Lagtang Basketball Gold (LBG) led by Councilor Eduard Abatayo, Talisay Basketball Association (TBA) led by Councilor Randy Gavas, Hoopers led by John Abnel Camay, Power Fort Inayawan led by Hermes Abasolo and Tata Pestano, Pardo Ball Club (PBC) led by Jayme Pacquiao, Mandaue Ball Club (MBC) led by Ely Ceniza, and FUBA Basak Cabreros led by Ulyses Calo.

The opening game will tip off at 7:30 AM, featuring TBA against Hoopers. This will be followed by a match between Power Forty and Pardo Ball Club, and the main game will pit MBC against LBG.

The tournament will follow a single round-robin elimination format. The top two teams after the elimination round will advance directly to the semifinals. The No. 3 team will face the No. 6 team, while the No. 4 and No. 5 teams will battle for the remaining two semifinal spots.

"This is a great tournament because senior citizens are the ones competing," said Tournament Commissioner Edwin Dejacto.

The tournament is spearheaded by Poblacion Pardo Barangay Captain Danny Lim, with assistance from Atty. Florencio Yosores.
