Globe's Digital Thumbprint Program Hits 10 Years, Empowers 2M+ in Online Safety
Globe's Digital Thumbprint Program Reaches 2M+ in 10 Years

Globe has marked a significant milestone as its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) celebrates ten years of operation, having positively impacted more than two million students and educators across the Philippines. Launched in 2016, this corporate initiative was designed to foster safer and more responsible online communities by addressing the rapid evolution of digital risks.

Expanding Reach and Adapting to Change

Originally focused on teaching fundamental online safety practices, the program has grown into a nationwide movement. During the pandemic, when educational settings shifted to virtual platforms, Globe demonstrated agility by converting its modules into digital courses available on the Globe of Good YouTube channel. These resources have garnered over 432,000 views, ensuring that learning opportunities remain accessible anytime and anywhere.

Curriculum Evolution and Partnerships

The DTP curriculum has undergone substantial updates to keep pace with technological advancements. In 2026, it features 36 stackable modules that cover topics such as AI ethics, digital etiquette, Philippine cyber laws, and digital rights. These additions are structured across basic, intermediate, and advanced levels, providing facilitated training sessions to help learners build mastery and confidence in navigating the modern digital landscape.

In 2019, Globe forged a strategic partnership with the Department of Education to integrate lessons on responsible online behavior into the K–12 values formation curriculum. This collaboration has provided millions of students and teachers with structured guidance for safe digital engagement. In 2025 alone, the program engaged 16,560 participants through workshops and learning sessions nationwide.

Empowering Youth as Digital Leaders

To amplify its impact, Globe launched the Digital Thumbprint Student Ambassador Program in 2025, with the Technological Institute of the Philippines serving as the pilot school. Student ambassadors act as peer mentors, sharing digital safety knowledge with classmates and vulnerable communities. This initiative creates a multiplying effect, spreading awareness and protection across the country.

Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, emphasized the program's evolution, stating, "Reaching the 10-year mark is a testament to the urgency and importance of our mission. When we started in 2016, we talked about passwords; today, we are talking about AI ethics and digital empathy. With our new student ambassadors leading the charge, we are not just teaching safety; we are building a nation of digital guardians."

Recognition and Global Influence

Globe's commitment to digital literacy and online safety has earned notable recognition. In the 2026 Consumer Choice Awards by Standard Insights, the company received the Excellence in Digital Literacy and Safety award, a new category introduced this year. Among professionals, Globe ranked highest in digital literacy, reflecting its role in enabling productivity and responsible digital engagement. Among students, its online safety initiatives also stood out, highlighting the growing importance of protection in an increasingly connected society.

Beyond national borders, Globe has contributed to global discussions on digital inclusion by helping develop GSMA's "The Business Imperative for Digital Inclusion." This guide assists mobile operators in embedding digital inclusion into their strategies, tracking progress, and reporting impact transparently. It views digital inclusion as a holistic ecosystem encompassing access, skills, meaningful use, and a supportive environment.

Looking Ahead

After a decade, the Digital Thumbprint Program is more than just an initiative; it represents a legacy of action and care under the banner of #AlagangGlobe. By empowering students as digital leaders, Globe continues to contribute to building a safer and more responsible digital Philippines. The program not only protects digital thumbprints but also inspires the next generation to lead online with confidence and integrity.
