Davao School Gets ₱530K Boost for Indigenous Culture, Education
Bartolome School in Davao Receives ₱530K Support from CAMP Asia

Bartolome Integrated School in Davao City's Tugbok District has reached a significant milestone, receiving substantial support to strengthen its cultural and academic programs. The school accepted an in-kind donation valued at ₱530,000 from its international partner, the Center for Asian Mission for the Poor (CAMP) Asia.

A Partnership for Holistic Development

The formal turnover took place on January 12, 2026, witnessed by Indigenous People (IP) leaders, parents, teachers, students, and CAMP Asia stakeholders. The Deed of Donation was signed by CAMP Asia President Rev. Chulyung Lee and accepted on behalf of the school by its head, Mr. Ronel N. Lupiba. During the ceremony, Mr. Lupiba was represented by the school's IPEd Coordinator, Ma'am Menche Ayuste.

This donation is strategically allocated to support several key areas crucial for the school's mission:

  • Procurement of indigenous musical instruments and IP learning materials.
  • Renovation materials and supplies for school facilities.
  • Compensation for tutors dedicated to guiding IP learners.

Empowering Teachers and the Bagobo-Klata Community

For School Head Ronel Lupiba, this partnership represents a major breakthrough. He highlighted that the initiative goes beyond material support. "This initiative does not only aim to improve academic achievement but also uplifts the morale of our teachers and strengthens the pride of our IP learners in school and community," Lupiba emphasized.

The donation directly fuels the school's vision for a culturally responsive education. A central part of this vision is the soon-to-be-opened IP Culture Room, which is currently receiving its final touches. Set to open to the public within the week, this space will serve as an educational hub where students, parents, and visitors can deeply engage with the rich history, traditions, and artistry of the Bagobo-Klata people.

A Foundation for Future Generations

The successful completion of the first year of collaboration marks just the beginning. With a planned partnership spanning two more years, Bartolome Integrated School is positioning itself at the forefront of a transformative educational model. This model seeks to nurture not only academically competent learners but also culturally grounded individuals who will carry forward the heritage of their ancestors.

This event celebrated more than a financial contribution; it celebrated a shared commitment to empowerment, dignity, and the enduring preservation of a cultural legacy for the Bagobo-Klata community in Davao City.
