Basilan Student Triumphs in Provincial Acrylic Art Competition
In a vibrant display of local artistic talent, a student from Claret School of Maluso has claimed the championship title and a substantial cash prize in the Acrylic Art Competition organized by the Provincial Government of Basilan. The event, held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, saw this young artist outshine ten other participants to secure the top honor.
Champion and Runners-Up Announced
The competition crowned Allen-Jay Dela Cruz of Claret School of Maluso as the champion, awarding him a prize of P5,000 for his outstanding acrylic artwork. Following closely behind, Nadia Jamiri from Akbar National High School earned the first runner-up position with a cash award of P4,000, while Junaire Muhibol of the Universal College Foundation of the Southeast Asia and the Pacific was named second runner-up, receiving P3,000.
All participants in the contest were recognized for their efforts, with each non-winning artist receiving a P2,000 consolation prize. This inclusive approach ensured that every contributor felt valued and encouraged to continue pursuing their artistic passions.
Celebrating Faith and Culture Through Art
Basilan Governor Mujiv Hataman praised the event in a statement released on Friday, March 6, highlighting its cultural significance. "Our local artists brought to life the beauty of our Masaajids in the province of Basilan in the Acrylic Painting Contest," he remarked. Governor Hataman further emphasized that "the young Basile os demonstrate that art is not just about color, but rather it is a story of our faith and culture."
The competition was hosted at the Basilan Government Center in Lamitan City, serving as a key component of the province's 52nd Founding Anniversary celebrations and the Tennun Pakaradjaan Ramadhan festivities.
