FDCP Wins Outstanding Stakeholder Award from DepEd Quezon City
FDCP Honored as Outstanding Education Partner

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has earned a prestigious accolade for its commitment to nurturing young cinematic talent within the country's educational system.

FDCP Honored at 6th Gawad Kaagapay Ceremony

On January 7, 2026, at the VS Hotel and Convention Center, the FDCP was named one of the recipients of the Outstanding Stakeholder Award. The honor was bestowed by the Department of Education, Schools Division Office of Quezon City during its 6th Gawad Kaagapay ceremony. This annual recognition celebrates partners who have shown unwavering support for enhancing the quality of public education in Quezon City.

Seymour Sanchez, FDCP Technical Consultant for Academic Linkages, accepted the award alongside Principal Romelita Tumaneng of the Eugenio Lopez Jr. Center for Media Arts Senior High School (ELJ CMA SHS). The citation specifically highlighted the FDCP's consistent partnership with this specialized high school.

Building the Future of Philippine Cinema in Classrooms

The collaboration between the FDCP and ELJ CMA SHS has been pivotal in elevating the school's academic programs. The FDCP's efforts have focused on three key areas:

  • Advancing film and media education.
  • Enhancing media literacy among students and teachers.
  • Conducting capacity-building initiatives.

A central force in this partnership is the FDCP's Academic Film Society (AFS), a program dedicated to cultivating the next generation of Filipino filmmakers. A prime example of its work was a two-day intensive "Script to Screen" masterclass held at the ELJ Theater last year. This workshop immersed students in the technical and creative processes of scriptwriting and visual storytelling.

A Strengthened Partnership for the Future

The Gawad Kaagapay award is more than just a trophy; it serves as a vital platform for dialogue between DepEd and its stakeholders. The FDCP's recognition underscores its active role in fostering a nurturing and innovative school community.

Looking ahead, the FDCP and DepEd are exploring new collaborative avenues. These initiatives aim to support public schools under the strengthened Senior High School curriculum, reinforcing the belief that the future of Philippine cinema begins in the classroom. This award solidifies a partnership that is directly investing in the skills and creativity of young Filipinos, ensuring the continued growth and dynamism of the nation's film industry.
