Radio and events host DJ Jhaiho faced a serious health emergency on Sunday, April 5, when he was hospitalized after experiencing severe breathing difficulties. The alarming incident occurred during the live broadcast of his popular radio program on dzMM, as detailed in his Facebook post on Monday, April 6.
Details of the On-Air Health Scare
In his social media update, Jhaiho recounted the terrifying moments, stating, "Kapansin-pansin na hirap na hirap at naghahabol na ako sa aking hininga yesterday sa programa. Pero pilit kong inilalaban talaga na tapusin ang show" (It was noticeable that I was struggling and gasping for breath during the program yesterday. But I forced myself to finish the show). He emphasized his determination to complete the broadcast despite the distress, highlighting the pressure of live radio.
Emergency Room Visit and Medical Tests
Immediately after the show, Jhaiho took swift action by heading to the emergency room. He underwent a comprehensive series of medical examinations to assess his condition. "Right after nito... ako na mismo nagsugod sa ER. Ginawa lahat ng lab tests... chineck if inaatake ako sa puso. Kinunan ng blood, X-ray, ECG, swab, etc." (Right after this... I rushed to the ER myself. All lab tests were done... they checked if I was having a heart attack. Blood was drawn, X-ray, ECG, swab, etc.).
In a follow-up post, he added, "Hingal na hingal ako... kinakapos ako sa hininga... after, dumiretso na ako sa emergency room baka kasi mild heart attack or pa-stroke. Thank God, hindi naman daw, as per doctor" (I was panting heavily... I was short of breath... after, I went straight to the emergency room because it might be a mild heart attack or stroke. Thank God, it wasn't, according to the doctor). The tests ultimately ruled out life-threatening conditions like a heart attack or stroke, providing a relief to the host and his fans.
Lifestyle Change and Career Background
Following this health scare, Jhaiho announced a significant lifestyle adjustment, declaring, "Stop na ako sa pagva-vape!" (I'm stopping vaping!). This decision underscores the potential risks associated with vaping and serves as a cautionary tale for others. Jhaiho first gained recognition as a DJ on MOR FM before expanding his career into acting, making his health update particularly impactful in the entertainment community.
The incident has sparked discussions about the pressures of live broadcasting and the importance of health awareness among public figures. Fans and colleagues have expressed support for his recovery and praised his transparency in sharing the experience.
