Tragic Sequence of Events in Quezon City Model Death Case
The former boyfriend of freelance model Gina Lima, whose sudden death remains under investigation by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), has died in an apparent suicide. Ivan Cezar Ronquillo was discovered dead in his condominium on the morning of Wednesday, November 19, 2025, according to authorities.
La Loma Police Station chief Lieutenant Colonel Jose Luis Aguirre confirmed the tragic development during a radio interview. "Nagbigti po siya ayon sa report dito sa amin," Aguirre stated, indicating that Ronquillo had hanged himself based on the initial police report.
Emergency responders transported Ronquillo to QC General Hospital, where medical staff attempted to revive him. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead after resuscitation efforts failed.
Timeline of the Model's Mysterious Death
The investigation began when Gina Lima was rushed to QC General Hospital by Ronquillo on Sunday evening, November 16. Medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival at the healthcare facility.
QCPD-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) chief Lieutenant Colonel Edison Ouano provided details from Ronquillo's sworn statement. According to the affidavit, the couple had engaged in a drinking session on the evening of November 15 and returned together to Ronquillo's condominium the following morning.
Ouano explained that the two went to sleep around noon that day. When Ronquillo woke up approximately at 8 p.m., he attempted to wake Lima but found her unresponsive. The situation prompted him to contact his father and immediately transport Lima to the hospital.
Police Investigation Reveals New Details
Initial medical reports indicated that Lima died due to cardio-respiratory distress. Early speculation suggested the model might have been beaten by her former partner, but police findings contradicted this theory.
"Initial findings, walang komosyon na nangyari doon (sa condo). Organized 'yung kwarto," Lieutenant Colonel Ouano stated, confirming that investigators found no signs of struggle or disturbance in the condominium.
Authorities did discover minor bruises on Lima's legs, described as "tuldok-tuldok lang" or small spots. However, careful examination of her neck and face revealed no evidence of strangulation or suffocation.
The investigation has taken a new direction after police discovered suspicious tablets and kush marijuana at the scene. Authorities are now exploring the possibility of a drug-related death in Lima's case.
The Quezon City Police District continues its investigation into both deaths, with the suicide of Ronquillo adding another tragic layer to an already complex case that has captured public attention.
